מרגלים יהושע וכלב נטלו חלקם: מנהני מילי אמר עולא דאמר קרא (במדבר יד, לח) ויהושע בן נון וכלב בן יפנה חיו מן האנשים ההם מאי חיו אילימא חיו ממש והא כתיב קרא אחרינא (במדבר כו, סה) ולא נותר מהם איש כי אם כלב בן יפונה ויהושע בן נון אלא מאי חיו שחיו בחלקם:
[This means that] as the fishes in the sea are covered by the waters and no eye has any power over them, so, in the case of the seed of Joseph. no [evil] eye has [any] power over them. 'The share of the spies was taken by Joshua and Caleb'.<span class="x" onmousemove="('comment',' Supra 117b.
